Look at the cute chicks below (you can click on a picture
to enlarge it)...Check out the chipmunk chick at the front of the cage. The
chicks will stay in the cage until they are big
enough
to be put with the larger chickens. That way the older chickens won't eat all
their baby food :) The older chickens (who were chicks just a few weeks ago) are
now 11 weeks old. We have two roosters and eight hens. It looks like the
five new chicks are all going to be hens...but we'll have to watch them grow up
to be sure. The other chickens were very curious to see the new chicks. They
live right next to each other in the barn. The rooster (the one that crows every
morning) was the most curious.
The alpacas were very curious too. In the next picture
Swoosh gets up close to one of the yellow chicks and Norman stands at attention
(which is what they do when they are curious) as the new chicks were brought out
to the barn.
Thank you to Mrs. Bouwes' class for the beautiful chicks. They will certainly like living on the farm and you did a great job raising them from babies. We hope you can visit them sometime.
